VIRTUAL (ONLINE) CONSULTATION NEW!

Now, men can complete state mandated counseling without ever having to leave the comfort of their home. For more information click here or to schedule your Phone/Online/Virtual Consultation, call us at 844-EASY VAS (844-327-9827) or Email us via our Contact Us Form!
STEP 2: YOUR INITIAL CONSULTATION WITH OUR DOCTORS
Prior to undergoing your No Needle No Scalpel Vasectomy, an initial consultation with one of our doctors is required. The State of California mandates that counseling be provided to all men considering a vasectomy. (See “Forms” to read the State mandated form) During this visit, Dr. Shahrad Aynehchi or Dr. Sepehr Nowfar will review your health history, conduct an examination and thoroughly explain the vasectomy procedure. This is a good time to ask any specific questions that you may want the doctor to address for you.
After counseling is completed you’ll be able to sign the State mandated consent form right away. There is a mandatory waiting period of 72 hours that cannot be waived for any reason. The State consent form is valid for 180 days.
Your vasectomy can be scheduled immediately after your consultation visit. While most patients prefer to have their vasectomy on a Friday, so they can return to work or play on Monday, we’re able to provide vasectomies on any day of the week. After we schedule your appointment, we’ll give you an educational package with detailed information of your aftercare instructions. Don’t worry – the instructions are short and simple to follow!
STEP 3: NO NEEDLE NO SCALPEL VASECTOMY PROCEDURE DAY
Your vasectomy is performed at our Los Alamitos office. The anesthesia part involves a few sprays of a local anesthetic – the old needle and syringe are no longer used. You’ll feel either nothing or a sensation that feels like a mild rubber band snap – nothing more. The procedure itself takes no more than 10 – 15 minutes after that and, remember, we don’t use a scalpel! Dr. Shahrad Aynehchi or Dr. Sepehr Nowfar makes a gentle 1/8” opening in the scrotum that will seal by itself. The stitches that cause pain after a traditional vasectomy are no longer used at West Coast Urology Medical Center! In our Los Alamitos office, vasectomy patients watch their favorite television show on a flat screen TV mounted on the ceiling. The procedure is over so quickly that most men don’t get to finish watching a full program! (View West Coast Urology’s video on pain and a vasectomy) You’ll typically be in and out of our office in 30 minutes from start to finish!
STEP 4: VASECTOMY AFTER CARE
You will leave the office with some gauze dressings and a scrotal supporter (jock strap). Dr. Dr’s recommends that you take it easy for the first 24 hours after your No Needle No Scalpel vasectomy. By resting you will recover faster as swelling is minimized. Dr. Shahrad Aynehchi or Dr. Sepehr Nowfar will send you home with specific after care instructions to aid in your healing process.
You’ll remove the gauze the next morning and then take a shower. We suggest that you apply ice to the tiny area where your No Needle No Scalpel Vasectomy was performed the day after your procedure. We also recommend that you wear the scrotal supporter for a week to minimize a tugging sensation that some men may feel. Normal activities can be resumed after 48 hours. If you engage in bike riding, working out in a gym, etc. we suggest you hold off for one week. Sexual activity can be resumed whenever you feel ready for it (usually 2-3 days after your procedure). (Read Step 5)
You can expect a follow up call on from one of our staff members after your vasectomy. We want to know how you are doing and answer any additional questions you may have. You can also call us at any time.
STEP 5: FOLLOW UP VISIT AND SEMEN ANALYSES
So, once your procedure is done here are some words of CAUTION – This Is Important!
You must use some form of birth control until Dr. Shahrad Aynehchi or Dr. Sepehr Nowfar gives you the “green light” to not use protection. It takes approximately 12 to 15 ejaculations before your semen analysis will show 0 sperm. Please be sure you return to West Coast Urology to have your semen samples checked to ensure a successful result. We don’t charge for this service and it’s done to give you peace of mind.
